We tried it: Bugaboo Bee3 Stroller

Who tried it: Rennie Dyball, PEOPLE.com senior editor

Why she did it: I’ve always wondered whether Bugaboo, the luxe, celeb-loved stroller brand, was worth the hype, and their latest model was released this fall.

Pros: The brand’s newest version of the Bee — their lightweight city stroller — is quite cute to look at, with some cool features to boot. Most strollers won’t allow for a fully upright seated position; there’s always a bit of a recline. Not so with the Bee3, which is a big plus when your little one likes to sit up straight to take in the world. And while sleeping in a stroller has never been an option for my 15-month-old kiddo, I hear lots of little ones enjoy a good stroller doze, and this one provides a full recline with some really comfy padding. It’s also got a nice, smooth ride and you’re in no danger of kicking the stroller frame, even if you’re tall with a long stride. From the pavement to the playground, it’s surprisingly easy to maneuver and the seat is reversible so your child can face you or face out. And you can build your own Bee3 online, choosing from a variety of colors (bright yellow for me).

Cons: For a stroller that’s meant to appeal to urban dwellers, the basket is quite small and not easily accessible (though the brand says it’s larger than the previous Bee models). While the sun canopy does give you great coverage, it feels a bit on the flimsy side when you pull it out. And for the price tag, it’s disappointing that the bassinet is an additional $230. Car seat adapters are also sold separately.

The verdict: The Bee3 is compact enough and versatile enough, but it’s not likely to be that one stroller that can do it all. You likely won’t be hauling this one up and down subway stairs with a baby on your hip, nor will you be able to fit your groceries in the basket. But if you’re in the market for a luxury stroller, it’s a great pick.

Cost: $719.00 with toddler seat only, $949.00 with seat and bassinet. Create your own from 64 different color combinations here.
